Narsingh Yadav doping row: Did brother of international wrestler spike his food in Sonipat?

105095878-1469338083-800NEW DELHI: As Narsingh Yadav’s fate of participating in Rio Olympics hangs by a thread, according to a new development, reportedly, the brother of an international wrestler in the super-heavyweight category allegedly infiltrated Narsingh’s room and contaminated his food supplements.

According to a report in The Times of India, the intruder, who is allegedly said to have contaminated Narsingh’s food supplements, has been identified. He is himself a 65 kg wrestler and has represented India in the junior ranks.He trains at the Chhatrasal Stadium in New Delhi and is a frequent visitor to the Sonipat centre during national camps as a sparring partner.

The report added that the intruder asked for the keys to Narsingh’s room at the KD Jadhav hostel at the centre in his absence. When someone asked why he needed it, he asked, “Yeh Pawan ka room hai, na?“ (Isn’t this Pawan’s room)?The National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) disciplinary panel hearing today will take a final call today about Narsingh’s participation at Rio Games.

Narsingh had tested positive for methandienone, an anabolic steroid, which is known to lead to an increase in muscle and weight.
