IPL franchises disclosed list of players they have retained for the 2024

NEW DELHI : With the IPL ,2024 players auctions on the horizon, the retained players serve as the core around which each team seeks to construct a winning combination. The teams are now on the cusp of an exhilarating bidding war, each competing to assemble a squad that strikes the perfect balance between seasoned expertise and youthful exuberance, adding an extra layer of intrigue for fans.

Ahead of the mini-auction for the 2024 edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), the 10 participating franchises released the list of players they have retained, released and traded. Some of the noteworthy announcements included the retention of Hardik Pandya, the skipper of Gujarat Titans, amid talks of him being traded with Mumbai Indians. The top exclusions were that of former England skipper Ben Stokes from Chennai Super Kings, pacer Jofra Archer from Mumbai Indians, and all-rounder Shardul Thakur from Kolkata Knight Riders, among others.

Mumbai Indian’s potential signing of Hardik Pandya emerged as the biggest talking point, with the Gujarat Titans skipper reportedly deciding to re-join his old franchise after spending two seasons with GT. But, the Gujarat franchises successfully managed to retain their skipper. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, decided to release England pacer Jofra Archer. The Delhi Capitals decided to retain wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant despite there being no clarity over his potential return to the field. Pant missed the entire IPL 2023 season because of the car crash he was involved in in December 2022.
