Sonia’s Emotional Apeal: Vote Congress for ‘change’,  to transform ‘Dorala Telangana’

NEW DELHI : Former congress president  Sonia Gandhi in a message for poll-bound Telangana told people that she was not able to visit the state but people there are close to her heart. She asked them to use their power to bring change in the upcoming Assembly election. Telangana will vote on November 30 and the counting of votes is scheduled for December 3
Telangana is set to witness a triangular contest between the BJP, the ruling BRS and the Congress. The Telangana election will serve as a litmus test for the INDIA alliance before the crucial 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Making an emotive appeal to the elect the Congress for ‘change’,  to transform ‘Dorala Telangana’ (Telangana of feudal lords) into ‘Prajala Telangana’ (People’s Telangana) and to fulfill the dreams of those who gave up their lives for statehood. Saying she could not travel to Telangana, Mrs Gandhi said the party wanted to make the people’s dreams come true and give a a true and honest government.“I request our sisters, mothers, sons, daughters and brothers of Telangana to use all their power this time to bring about a change. Vote for the Congress. ‘Marpu Kavali – Congress Ravali’,” Sonia Gandhi said in her message.
Expressing gratitude to the people of Telangana for honoring her as ‘Sonia amma’, Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) chairperson Sonia Gandhi on November 28 made an emotional appeal to the electorate to bring about a change by voting her party to power.
In her message, Mrs Gandhi said she could not come there but they all are very close to her heart. Her love for them is beyond words. Today, with folded hands, I want to say something to you. “I sincerely wish that we all convert dorala Telangana into prajala Telangana (from a Telangana that belongs to landlords to that of the people), make your dreams come true, and give you a true and honest government,” Ms. Gandhi added.
I want to see the dream of the mother of martyred sons fulfilled… she wants their dreams to come true and give them a true and honest government. Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi shared the video on his X handle. ”Message from Telangana’s own ‘Sonia Amma’ to the people of the state,” Mr. Gandhi posted.
Though the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and the creation of Telangana was an intensely divisive issue even for the Congress, the party has often credited Ms. Gandhi with the creation of the new State. Referring to the creation of the state of Telangana following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, Mrs Gandhi said the party fulfilled its promise to the people of the state.
Telangana was formed in 2014 when thePA was still in power after Mrs Gandhi gave the assurance for the formati of a new state. The decades-long agitation was spearheaded by K Chandrasekhar Rao, who helmed the state since its creation and is hoping for a third straight term in power.
“By calling me Sonia Amma, you have given me immense respect and respect. Considered me like a mother… I will always be grateful to you for this love and respect and will remain dedicated to you forever. I request my sisters, mothers, sons, daughters, brothers of Telangana this time, use all your power to bring change, vote for Congress,” Sonia Gandhi said.
Buoyed by its massive victory in next-door Karnataka earlier this year, the Congress has announced provisions for all – women, farmers, youth, statehood activists the elderly population and the homeless. Sonia Gandhi has shifted to Jaipur temporarily till the air quality improves in Delhi. Ms Gandhi suffers from respiratory problems and doctors have advised her to temporarily move to a place where the air quality is better.
Ms Gandhi had been admitted to Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in September after showing symptoms of fever and had been discharged a day later. She had also been admitted to a hospital in January because of respiratory issues.
