Over 13,000 teachers to be appointed in Assam schools, colleges

himanta_b_250616GUWAHATI : Assam government will appoint more than 13,000 teachers in schools and colleges early next year to fill vacancies across the state.

This was stated by State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at a function in Guwahati yesterday organised to hand-over appointment letters to 73 teachers for higher secondary school. He said 11,000 teachers will be appointed in primary schools alone.

The Minister said, the government will fill 229 posts of lecturers in various colleges within a month. Mr Sarma said, the state government is also talking to the Centre for relaxation of norms for appointment of another 27,000 teachers in the next phase.

Talking about the higher secondary schools, he said 700 such institutions do not have any principals at this moment. Mr Sarma said, the government will appoint full-time principals in all these schools next month.
