Congress complains to EC over timing of BJP manifesto release

Digvijay-SinghNEW DELHI : Shortly after the BJP released its 2014 Lok Sabha manifesto, which promises to end policy paralysis, corruption and tax terrorism, the ruling Congress on Monday lodged a formal complaint to the Election Commission over the timing of its release.
According to reports, the complaint was lodged by Congress secretary KC Mittal, who went to poll panel and complained that the release of BJP’s election manifesto on the first day of the first phase of Lok Sabha polls is a gross violation of model code of conduct. While the BJP’s manifesto focuses primarily on development and inclusive growth, Congress slammed it and called it a “dream manifesto,” which will remain a dream.
Reacting to the BJP manifesto, senior Congress leader Rashid Alvi said, “This is a dream manifesto and it will continue to be a dream for BJP.”Alvi’s colleague and party general secretary Digvijaya Singh said, “I know they are not dedicated to Ram. They have politically used the name of Ram. I am happy that now the BJP is also thinking of helping madarsas. This is a positive thing. These elections are very interesting. Modi is a very good event manager.”The Janata Dal United said that the BJP had ended the Vajpayee era by including Ram Temple and Uniform Civil Code in its manifesto
