Afghanistan-Pakistan-India, TAPI gas pipeline project yesterday at Turkmenistan city Mary, Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari said, the project will help integrate economies of South and Central Asia.
He said, TAPI is much more than a gas pipeline project. Mr Ansari said, it is a reflection of the common desire of Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India to re-connect themselves to re-claim their shared geography and revitalise an age-old legacy of mutually enriching interactions.
Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimohamedov, Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani and Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also attended the ceremony.
Mr Ansari further said, the launch of the 1,800 km long gas pipeline project also marks the first step towards fulfilling the vision of an economically integrated region stretching from the Bay of Bengal to the Caspian Sea to a shared future and to a vision of common prosperity.
