Maharashtra: 568 Covid Deaths In 24 Hours

Death 21MUMBAI: Maharashtra on Wednesday recorded the highest number of COVID-19 deaths with 568 people succumbing to the infection in the past 24 hours, while as many as 67,468 new cases of the coronavirus has been reported.Nearly 54,985 patients were discharged after recovery, so far, 32,68,449 patients have been recovered and discharged in Maharashtra.
The total caseload has now increased to 40,27,827 and the death toll from coronavirus stands at 61,911.  While, In Mumbai, 7,654 new cases of coronavirus have been reported during the last 24 hours with this the number of coronavirus positive patients in Mumbai has increased to 6,01,713. There have been 62 deaths from Corona in Mumbai during the last 24 hours in Mumbai. There have been a total of 12,508 deaths from Corona in Mumbai so far.
Nashik, where 24 people died today because of disruption in oxygen supply triggered by a leak in a tanker, reported 6,703 cases and 29 deaths. 54,985 patients were discharged today, taking total recoveries to 32,68,449. The recovery rate in the state is 81.15%.”Out of 2,46,14,480 laboratory samples 40,27,827 have been tested positive (16.36%) for COVID-19 until today,” a government statement read. Currently 39,15,292 people are in home quarantine and 28,384 people are in institutional quarantine.
Maharashtra, worst affected by the second coronavirus wave, had reported 62,097 fresh coronavirus cases and 519 deaths on Tuesday. The state has reported over 60,000 daily coronavirus cases several times this month. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had announced a night curfew and weekend lockdown to stem the growth of the virus.
However, the measures have not been able to improve he coronavirus situation in the state. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Tuesday said the ministers of the state had urged Mr Thackeray to announce a complete lockdown. However, hours after the remark, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an address to the nation, urged states to use lockdown as the last resort.
