Nihalani slams Sharmila Tagore for clearing ‘Omkara’
MUMBAI: Censor Board chief Pahlaj Nihalani, who has courted controversy for making guidelines stricter for filmmakers, by coming up with a list of words that cannot be used in films, has now slammed his predecessor Sharmila Tagore for passing a film like ‘Omkara’.
The film in question had cuss words galore. Directed by Vishal Bharadwaj, ‘Omkara’ was an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’ and starred Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, Vivek Oberoi and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles.
According to latest reports, Nihalani has alleged that since the film featured Tagore’s son Saif, the film was cleared despite having dialogues loaded with abusive words.
