Delhi Nurse, who treated Nirbhaya, gang-raped in Punjab
CHANDIGRAH: A nurse, who treated 2012 Delhi gang-rape victim ‘Nirbhaya’ at Safdarjung hospital, was allegedly sexually assaulted by seven men in Punjab’s Mansa district, reports said on Wednesday. As per reports, the shameful incident happened on Monday in Budhlada town of Punjab.
The 33-year-old woman was allegedly raped whole night inside a tubewell shed in the Gurna village. Police have registered a case under Section 376 of IPC and arrested two accused – Balwinder Singh Kala and Manwinder – in connection with the case. Strangely, the woman has refused to undergo medical test. Reports claim that the woman knew one of the accused, who is said to be the husband of her ailing friend.
The incident happened after she was picked up by her friend’s husband from Budhlada railway station and taken to an isolated place. She was gang-raped there and taken back to the railway station. When she tried to raise an alarm at the station the accused fled. The alleged rape victim was given a call by her friend’s husband, who asked her to visit Punjab as his wife was in a critical condition.
The Delhi based-nurse was part of the team of doctors, who treated 23-year-old trainee physiotherapist, who was brutally gang-raped inside a moving bus in the national capital by six people on December 16, 2012. ‘Nirbhaya’ was initially admitted at Safdarjung hospital and later shifted to Singapore for further treatment. Unfortunately, due to grievous injuries the ‘Delhi braveheart’ lost her life in Singapore hospital.
