ED questions Aparna, Minister for Saradha links, TMC fears old wound to bleed again
Kolkata: Film director Aparna Sen and West Bengal state textile minister Shyamaprasad Mukherjee were questioned by Enforcement Directorate on Monday in connection with 10,000 crore Sharada Chit fund scam.
Sen, who was part of Paroma magazine launched by Sharada group and got shut down, after six hours of questioning however told media that she assured ED of all cooperation as she would like `the guilty’ to be punished.
Mukherjee on his part who was alleged to have links with the group in connection selling an ailing cement industry, like Sen was present with documents and later told reporters that “he had no links with the group.’’
Interestingly, question of VIPs coincided with Mamata Banerjee’s five-day Singapore tour to attract foreign investments and entailed alleged revelations of tainted party links with Saradha Group which cheated lakhs of people in Odisha, Assam and Bengal.
And these questionings “are supposed to get an adverse reactions from groups, especially vernacular media which TMC fears would open up old wounds that will bleed.
