Teenager who was stripped and clicked, kills herself
BANGALURU: A 15-year-old girl committed suicide on Monday afternoon after being stripped and photographed by a few youngsters in her locality. The victim approached the Chikkajala Police Station on Sunday with a harassment complaint, but the policemen sent her off after pacifying her.
The girl, a resident of Vidyanagar Cross in Subhashnagar, was a class IX student of a government school in Chikkajala. A suicide note penned by the teenager in Kannada read that she was being repeatedly harassed by a few youngsters on her way back from school.
The victim locked herself at home on Monday afternoon and committed suicide. Around 5 p.m., her body was discovered by her family who rushed her to a hospital nearby where she was declared as ‘brought dead.’The Chikkajala police arrested two suspects identified as Krishnamoorty and Mohan from Subhashnagar on charges of abetting suicide.
A hunt is on for the other suspects. Meanwhile, an enquiry has been ordered to find out the reasons for the police not taking action, despite the complaint made by the victim.
Victim was turned away by the police
Police sources said the victim’s father was picked up by a police team along with a few others, including two women, on Sunday evening following a scuffle. After this, the girl came to the police station and complained that the two women’s sons, Krishnamurthy and Mohan, were repeatedly harassing her. However, the police personnel pacified them and the girl was asked to leave.
In the suicide note left behind by the victim, she stated, “On Monday afternoon, as I was returning from school, I was assaulted by Krishnamoorty, Mohan, his mother and a few of their friends. They tore my clothes and photographed me inappropriately and in humiliation, I’m taking this extreme step.”
The teenager also wrote that she had lost faith in the system and felt she wouldn’t get justice.Following the suicide, police apprehended Krishnamoorty and Mohan on Monday evening and are on the lookout for the rest of the suspects. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East) Vikas Kumar Vikas has ordered a detailed probe into the matter.
