Third round sees less inspired turnout, keeps Bengal parties guessing
KOLKATA: With less inspired turnout in Howrah, Hoogly, Burdawn and Birbhum in third phase while dampened the mood of opposition parties, like the BJP, Congress and CPI(M), Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee launched another round of attack on Narendra Modi during a campaign. What apparently left opposition parties worried first has been at places a little less turnouts unlike first two phases and Chief Electoral Officer’s office dismissing alleged TMC hooliganism which left workers of opposition parties injured.
“It was peaceful and smooth,’’ said a top deputy of CEO dismissing opposition allegations. What was more that may have acted as force to keep people home, has been CeO office denying Election Identity Cards to eligible voters who are not Bangladeshis or Pakistanis, but to man and women who were born and brought up in Bengal form childhood on flimsiest grounds and efforts to bring these official inconsistencies to notice didn’t enlighten representatives of Election Commission here.
