Police arrested more than 24 people for killing five women in superstition that they were witches in Jharkhand
RANCHI: In Jharkhand, five women, belonging to different families was killed on suspicions of being witches (‘Dayan’) by the people of same locality Friday midnight.
Quoting police sources, AIR Ranchi correspondent reports that the incident took place at Kanjia Toli of Mnadar Police Station under Ranchi district late Friday night. Police has arrested more than 24 people in this connection, in which many are educated youths and women.
The five dead bodies have been sent for postmortem at RIMS Ranchi. DIG Arun Kumar along with other senior officers are camping the area and large number of police have been deployed.
On the issue, Chief Minister’s media advisor told reporters that 27 people have been arrested so far in connection with the killing of five women Friday in Mandar, Ranchi.
