Kejriwal’s DJB officials on BJP’s disposal

NEW DELHI:  Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) may have been targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party on public platforms, but at the lower level, the AAP government seems to be standing with the BJP. There is a similar agreement with Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and BJP in East Delhi. Ghazipur of Delhi is an area of East Delhi which is facing severe water crisis for the last three months.
The population of more than twenty thousand here is dependent on DJB tankers or is collecting water through boring system. Delhi Jal Board has (DJB)  failed to solve these problems and has given up. Skylark and Highway Apartments, two apartments with a population of thousands of people, are facing severe water crisis. They have been forced to depend on dirty water from tankers.
Recently, in order to remove the embarrassment  of local MLA Om Prakash Sharma, who was embarrassed by this problem in his constituency, the local unit of BJP hastily inaugurated an under construction water pipeline.
To take credit for this project of Delhi Jal Board, a stone was installed in the name of OP Sharma in the local market and it was inaugurated by him. DJB officials fully supported to make this inauguration ceremony of BJP successful. He remained deployed at the spot since morning to make this program of the Honorable MLA a success. DJB had specially deployed its junior engineer Trilok Chandra Gaur for this. Gaur remained posted there till the BJP MLA left. Gaur justified his deployment by saying that – it is a matter of protocol, hence his deployment was justified. AAP party workers stayed away from the function as they did not invite the local councilor to the programme. A local BJP leader posted at the spot said – This is a program of the entire party in which the MLA of this area OP Sharma has participated.
When this correspondent asked MLA OP Sharma over phone for his comment on blockage of water flow, he expressed ignorance of such problem. When he was told that water availability was affected for the last one month, he said that he would find out. We are not technical people.
In his inauguration, MLA OP Sharma said – The new water pipeline will be available to everyone, Hindu-Muslim, rich and poor. However, he refrained from commenting on the availability of water from this proposed pipeline. He did not disclose that the new pipeline has been fully commissioned. He refrained from saying anything on the demand for availability of water. To keep the MLA happy, the proposed pipeline was hurriedly commissioned that evening, but from the next day due to several deficiencies, the water supply was stopped. The local MLA had asked DJB to fix the day and time of inauguration of the under construction pipeline on the day of Raksha Bandhan. DJB followed this order of the BJP MLA religiously. The MLA was welcomed with a garland.
According to a senior BJP leader, after losing the elections in the Legislative Assembly and Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD), it has become difficult for OP Sharma to carry out any development work as an MLA. Political bias has made this situation worse. Sharma has no contribution in the matter of Ghazipur water source. Neither does he have any stake in the government nor in the corporation.
Junior Engineer Gaur kept giving one reason after another for the limited flow of water. Gour defended the MLA on the halt in the repair work of huge leakage in the pipeline by saying that the repair work got stopped due to the workers deployed for the repair work being deployed in preparation for the G-20.  The latest comment of the junior engineer Gaur was – Due to the cleaning of Ganga canal, the water supply has been affected. On behalf of DJB, Area Executive Engineer Sudhir Gupta deliberately kept himself away from this half-baked inauguration program.
