Govt.issues notice to Congress to vacate 24, Akbar Road
NEW DELHI : The Urban Development Ministry has issued a notice to the Congress party to vacate their party headquarters – the famous 24 Akbar Road in the national capital – as per reports on Thursday.Confirming the news, senior Congress leader Motilal Vohra said, “Yes, we have received a notice and have replied to the the Urban Development Ministry,” according to a Agency report.
Vora added that the Congress would intimate if the government made any further query.
The notice was apparently received by the party, issued by the Director of Estates, in January and they replied to it this month.As per reports, Congress is seeking ways to extend their stay at the headquarters.The grand old party has been operating out of the Akbar Road headquarters since 1978.
The office is next to Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s 12 Janpath residence.
