Chef Travels to Bhutan to Prepare Gujarati Food for Narendra Modi
THIMPU( BHUTAN) : A chef from Gujarat Bhawan in New Delhi has specially travelled to Bhutan to cook dishes for Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is currently in the country and is known to mostly eat home-cooked food The cook has been in Bhutan for the past one week as Mr Modi is known for not having food outside, including hotel food.
Mr Modi, who arrived in Thimpu today for a two-day visit, is staying at hotel Taj Tashi. About 50 rooms have been reserved for accompanying delegates.Since the Prime Minister is a strict vegetarian, sources said the hotel was keeping more vegetarian dishes on the menu as well as some Gujarati dishes.
The official banquet for Mr Modi will also have more vegetarian dishes, sources said. Mr Modi relishes home-cooked food or dishes prepared at the Gujarat Bhawan.
Even at the peak of his campaigning during the general election, Mr Modi made it a point to go back to Ahmedabad at night to have a home-cooked meal.
On certain occasions when he had to stay in New Delhi, he would eat food cooked in Gujarat Bhavan.
