‘Bihar victory result of religious harmony’; Says Dalai Lama
NEW DELHI: Expressing their support for a statement made by Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama that the results of the recently conducted Bihar assembly elections had shown that ‘a majority of Hindus believed in religious harmony’, the Janata Dal-United and the Congress claimed that a strong and befitting reply has been given to extremist groups in India.
“I appreciate the comment made by religious leader Dalai Lama. He has been in India for a long while and so, he is aware of the Indian culture. The statement made by him has given a strong and befitting reply to the extremist groups in India,” JD (U) leader KC Tyagi told News Agency ANI.
Meanwhile, the Congress Party also said that Dalai Lama’s statement shows that peace has won in Bihar.”Dalai Lama is both a religion and a political leader of the Tibetans. We should just take his statement to be what it is.
However, it does show to some extent that peace has won in Bihar. People with the message more related to peace are always more popular and acceptable in India than others,” Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit told .
Terming religious harmony in India ‘remarkable’, Dalai Lama on Saturday had said the results of the Bihar assembly elections had shown that ‘a majority of Hindus believed in religious harmony’. In a reply to a question on ‘religious intolerance’ in India, he said that politics meant serving the people effectively and ‘not creating problems’.
