AAP has not given funding info to us, says Centre in court
NEW DELHI : Leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party or AAP have failed to share information about their funding, the union government said in the Delhi High Court today.
The case is based on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) which seeks a probe into the source of foreign funding received by AAP.
The Home Ministry was ordered by the court in October to investigate the allegations.AAP, led by Arvind Kejriwal, who is now chief minister of Delhi, made a dazzling debut in the state elections in December. During its campaign, it said it collected 20 crores in donations through a largely-online effort.
It has denied the charges that it incorrectly accepted foreign donations. Mr Kejriwal and other leaders had alleged that the investigation is a way of punishing them for demanding transparency and accountability in traditional parties like the Congress and BJP.
