NEW DELHI : Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and his wife Jaya Bachchan have gifted their luxurious bungalow “Prateeksha” located in the luxurious Juhu area of Mumbai to their daughter Shweta Nanda. The Vitthalnagar Co-operative Housing Society property is spread over two plots of 674 square meters and 890.47 square meters, the total value of which is estimated to be around Rs 50.63 crore.

One of them is spread over 9 thousand 585 square feet and is jointly owned by Jaya Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan. Amitabh alone has the ownership rights of the plot of 7 thousand 255 square feet.
This bungalow, which comes under Vitthal Nagar Cooperative Housing Society Limited, is spread over two plots.The size of the plots are 890.47 sq m and 674 sq m. The valuation of the property is ₹50 crore. “Prateeksha”Amitabh Bachchan’s house is located at a distance of one kilometer from Jalsa.The deed of the gifted house has been signed in which registration and stamp duty charges of Rs 50.65 lakh were paid. However, the Bachchan family has not yet made anything public about this.
Property documents obtained by Zapkey reveal that Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan have gifted their “Prateeksha” bungalow to their daughter Shweta. A gift deed for the property was concluded on 8 November. As per current rules, residential property gifted by a father to a daughter or son in Mumbai attracts a nominal stamp duty of Rs 200 along with 1% metro cess per act.
At the beginning of Amitabh Bachchan’s career, the Bachchan family remained in waiting for many years. The veteran actor also owns two other bungalows in Juhu – Jalsa and Janak. The marriage ceremony of his son Abhishek Bachchan and actress Aishwarya Rai was held in the bungalow ‘Prateeksha’ and ‘Jalsa’ in 2007. ‘Janak’, the third bungalow in the area, is reportedly used as an office by the 81-year-old Bollywood actor.
Amitabh Bachchan has three bungalows in Mumbai, ‘Prateeksha’, Jalsa and Janak. Amitabh Bachchan lives in Jalsa. Amitabh Bachchan also meets his fans outside this bungalow on Sundays. He also celebrates all the festivals with his family in his bungalow.
Recently, Amitabh Bachchan bought four offices spread over about 8,400 sq ft in a commercial project in the Oshiwara area of Mumbai’s Andheri suburb for around Rs 29 crore. Bachchan himself, Shah Rukh Khan, Shilpa Shetty, Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Many Bollywood actors, producers and directors, including Rai, have invested in properties. There were also several deals of high-end luxury properties acquired by Ranveer Singh, Hrithik Roshan, Rani Mukherjee, Alia Bhatt, Disha Patani and Janhvi Kapoor in the last few quarters.
“Prateeksha” was the first house bought by Amitabh Bachchan. The actor lived with his parents – famous poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan. This house was named by the great poet himself.
During season 14 of the quiz reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), Amitabh Bachchan talked openly about the house. He said, “This name was given by my father and there is a line in his father’s poem, which says, ‘Welcome here for all, wait for none.'” It is noteworthy that Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Had married even while waiting. The actor’s poet father Harivansh Rai Bachchan is said to have named the bungalow ‘Prateeksha’ and the property is also mentioned in one of his poems.
Earlier in July, the 81-year-old actor reportedly bought four units of a flat worth Rs 7.18 crore, located on the 21st floor of a commercial complex in Mumbai’s Andheri area. The stamp duty for these four units was Rs 43.10 crore. A few years ago, Amitabh Bachchan had bought a property worth Rs 31 crore in Atlantis, Mumbai, whose area is 5,184 square feet.
Amitabh Bachchan shares a special bond with his daughter Shweta Nanda. On the great actor’s birthday, Shweta picked some happy pictures of the two and shared them on Instagram. Her note read, “Happy 81st Birthday Papa. Big shoes (and hugs) no one can ever manage to fill. Sharing another set of pictures from the birthday celebration, Shweta wrote, “May you always be surrounded by love.” Shweta Bachchan Nanda is a writer, columnist, former model and entrepreneur. He has written the best-selling novel ‘Paradise Towers’. He married Nikhil Nanda, MD and Chairman of Escorts Limited in 2007.
Amitabh Bachchan Big B was recently seen in Tiger Shroff-Kriti Sanon starrer Ganpat. Although this film has been a flop at the box office. Earlier, Amitabh Bachchan had done a cameo in son Abhishek Bachchan’s ‘Ghoomar’. Big B will soon be seen in 2898 AD. Deepika Padukone, Prabhas and Disha Patani will also be seen in strong roles in this film. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film is likely to release next year.
