Maharashtra records highest single-day spike of 9,518 new Covid-19 cases
MUMBAI: India witnesses over 38,900 fresh Covid-19 infections in 24 hours for the third day, the total number of positive cases in the country spikes over 11 lakh, 3,73,379 active cases, 27,485 deaths and 6,77,423 recovered/discharged/migrated cases.
Community transmission has been there from quite some time. It was localised to pockets, for instance- in Dharavi & several areas of Delhi. I 100% agree with IMA that there is community transmission in India says Dr Arvind Kumar, Chairman, Centre for Chest Surgery, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.

Meanwhile,the unprecedented outbreak of the coronavirus has now infected more than 3.10 lakh people across Maharashtra that has been the worst-COVID-19-hit state in India.

Mumbai has been involved in recording the most number of confirmed infections in the state. India’s commercial capital has so far registered 1,01,388 positive cases.
There were 1,038 new COVID-19 cases and 64 deaths in the last 24 hours. The death count has now surged to 5,714, while the number of active cases stands at 23,828.
The COVID-19 hotspot in Mumbai, Dharavi, which is considered as Asia’s one of the largest slums reported 36 new cases on Sunday. Dharavi’s total count has now risen to 2,480. There were 257 new cases in Thane that took the total number of positive cases to 15,773. Over 551 people have succumbed to COVID-19 in Thane.
Delhi reports 1,211 new Covid-19 cases.. 1211 new Covid-19-positive cases, 1860 recovered/discharged/migrated & 31 deaths reported in Delhi today. The total number of positive cases now rises to 1,22,793 including 1,03,134 recovered/discharged/migrated and 3,628 deaths: Government of Delhi.
