India’s young popular actor Sushant commits suicide at 34
MUMBAI: Noted Bollywood actor and television star Sushant Singh Rajput reportedly committed suicide on Sunday. As per the preliminary investigation, he was found hanging at his Bandra residence.
Confirming suicide, the police said no suicide note was found. The actor was 34. “He has committed suicide at his residence in Bandra. Our team is there,” Told Manoj Sharma, Additional Commissioner of Police, Western Region.
Rajput’s domestic help had informed the police after spotting the actor hanging from the ceiling. A forensic team is collecting items from his room. According to police, he made the last call from his mobile to a friend, however, the timing hasn’t been disclosed yet.
Soon after the news of the actor’s demise started circulating, a huge crowd gathered at his Patna residence. They said the condition of the actor’s father Krishna Kumar Singh has deteriorated and he is not in a position to speak.
Lakshmi Devi, the caretaker of Sushant Singh’s Patna residence, said the news of his death came through telephone. She told media persons that Rajput’s eldest sister, who lives in Chandigarh, has conveyed over telephone that she would be arriving by flight later in the day and accompany the father to Mumbai.
His demise came as a shock to many as this is the fourth death of a famous personality from the Hindi film industry to pass away in the past two months, after Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor succumbed to cancer and Wajid Khan from the Sajid-Wajid duo fell prey to the corona virus pandemic.
Sushant Singh Rajput was best-known for his work in the TV show Pavitra Rishta and for starring in films such as MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! and Chhichhore.
Condolences poured in from all quarters for the highly-talented actor who won several awards for his roles in movies like M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, PK and Kedarnath.
“A bright young actor gone too soon. He excelled on TV and in films His rise in the world of entertainment inspired many and leaves behind severable memorable performances. Shocked by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and fans,” tweeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“I can’t believe this at all… it’s shocking… a beautiful actor and a good friend… it’s disheartening #RestInPeace my friend #SushantSinghRajput. Strength to the family and friends,” actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui said. “Honestly this news has left me shocked and speechless…I remember watching #SushantSinghRajput in Chhichhore and telling my friend Sajid, its producer how much I’d enjoyed the film and wish I’d been a part of it.
Such a talented actor…may God give strength to his family,” tweeted Akshay Kumar. “What a tragic loss,” tweeted Ajay Devgn. “I can’t believe this at all,” tweeted Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Abhishek Bachchan tweeted, “This is just so shocking.” Riteish Deshmukh wrote that he was “shocked beyond words.”

Not fair my baby!”
Just last week, Sushant wrote in an Instagram story, “It’s such devastating news” after his former manager Disha Salian committed suicide. Sushant’s last post on his Instagram account was a tribute to his late mother a week ago.
Sushant made his Bollywood debut in the 2013 film Kai Po Che! and later starred in projects such as the MS Dhoni biopic, Shuddh Desi Romance and Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! He had a supporting role in Aamir Khan’s 2014 hit PK. In 2018,Sushant starred in Kedarnath opposite debutante Sara Ali Khan. His last appearances were in the 2019 projects Chhichhore, Sonchiriya and Drive.
Sushant’s new film Dil Bechara, co-starring Saif Ali Khan, was meant to be released in May but was postponed because of the lockdown against the COVD-19 pandemic.
His career in Bollywood was short, Sushant worked with some of the most popular names in the film industry such as Rajkumar Hirani, Abhishek Kapoor, Dibakar Banerjee, Neeraj Pandey, Nitesh Tiwari and Abhishek Chaubey.
Born in Patna in 1986, Sushant moved to Delhi after his mother passed away in 2002. A National Olympiad winner in Physics, Sushant pursued Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering in Delhi College of Engineering (DCE), but did not complete the course. It was during this period that he started taking acclaimed choreographer Shiamak Davar’s dance classes and also joined Barry John’s acting classes.
Disha Salian, the actor’s former manager, died earlier this month after reportedly falling from the window of her friend’s residence in Mumbai’s Malad. Sushant was in a relationship with his ‘Pavitra Rishta’ co-star Ankita Lokhande for six years. The couple broke up in 2016.
