‘Jauhar’ scene: Deepika had approached filmmaker Bhansali
NEW DELHI : Deepika Padukone, who has been tasting back-to-back success with her films, says she finds her last release ‘Padmaavat’ very close to her heart. The 32-year-old actress revealed that though the film faced a lot of external difficulties before its release, it was the ‘Jauhar’ scene in the end that was reportedly the most difficult part for her.
According to a Times of India report, the ‘Jauhar’ scene is so close to Deepika that she reportedly approached filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali with a request. the actress reportedly asked Bhansali to give her the outfit she had worn during the shoot of the Jauhar scene so that she can treasure it for life.
Acknowledging one such compliment which mentioned how the Jauhar scene is one of the biggest takeaways from the film, she left a note on her Twitter handle writing, “The Jauhar scene is by far my most special and challenging moments as an actor!”
The climax scene features Deepika walking almost in a trance as she leads a pack of women to commit self-immolation. Deepika told another well-wisher on Twitter that it was a one-of-a-kind and a once in a lifetime moment for her to shoot that scene.
‘Padmaavat’, helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, hit the screens after a long-drawn battle with a set of Rajput organisations opposing its release over alleged “distortion of historical facts”. It opened to mixed reviews but won glory at the Box Office as it stands with a net domestic collection of over Rs 300 crore — despite facing ban in several states.
