Second loss for Anand
NEW DELHI : In less than 24 hours after losing to World No.2 Levon Aronian, Viswanathan Anand crashed to a loss against Hikaru Nakamura in the Zurich Chess Challenge on Friday.
Playing white, Anand blew away a promising position after the opening phase of Ruy Lopez and slumped to a defeat in 36 moves. The clash between Magnus Carlsen and Aronian ended in a draw in 40 moves.
The results: Second round: Viswanathan Anand (0) lost to Hikaru Nakamura (USA, 1.5); Magnus Carlsen (Nor, 1.5) drew with Levon Aronian (Arm, 1.5); Boris Gelfand (Isr, 0)-Fabiano Caruana (Ita, 0.5) in progress. First round: Aronian bt Anand; Carlsen bt Gelfand; Nakamura drew with Caruana.
