Indrani Mukherjea admitted to J J hospital
MUMBAI: Indrani Mukerjea, accused of killing her daughter Sheena Bora in 2012, has been admitted to a hospital in Mumbai after she complained of ‘uneasiness’ today. 43-year-old Ms Mukerjea, who was arrested in August, has been in judicial custody since September 7.
“Indrani was brought to the hospital today and we are diagnosing her ailment,” TP Lahane, Dean of JJ Hospital, said.The former media executive is lodged in Mumbai’s Byculla Women’s Jail. She was taken to the hospital after she complained of “uneasiness”, said DCP (Detection-1) Mohan Dahikar.
Ms Bora, 24, was killed allegedly by her mother, step-father Sanjeev Khanna, and a driver inside a car in April 2012, in Mumbai.
The trio has been accused by the Mumbai Police of hatching a criminal conspiracy to murder Sheena Bora, abducting and murdering her and disposing of her half-burnt body in a forest in Raigad.
Ms Mukerjee’s husband, Peter Mukerjea, former CEO of Star India, was also questioned several times by police.The high-profile murder case of Sheena Bora was initially handled by the Mumbai Police under the supervision of the then Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria, but later transferred to the CBI by the Maharashtra government.
The former media executive is lodged in the Arthur Road Jail under judicial custody. The CBI has taken over the case, and a team of the agency is in Mumbai to reassess the evidence gathered by the Mumbai Police.
T.P. Lahane, Dean of JJ Hospital, confirmed that she has been admitted in the hospital late Friday afternoon, and doctors are examining her.
