Large Fire in Kolkata at Building Which Has Government Offices
NEW DELHI: A huge fire has broken out in a building in Kolkata which houses many government departments, including the offices of some ministers. Rescue officials are not commenting on whether anyone is trapped inside the building.
The fire began at about 10.20 am on the seventh floor of the New Secretariat building.20 fire engines are fighting the flames. Smoke is spewing out of many windows.
The building is about 30 years old. It was built as an extension of the original state Secretariat, Writers’ Building.
