Setback to Mirwaiz Farooq as former aide, 12 others join Congress
Srinagar: In a huge embarrassment for the moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference in Jammu & Kashmir , 13 of its members including senior leader Yaqoob Vakil have decided to jump ship and join Congress.
Awami Action Committee led by Mirwaiz Umer Farooq has suffered a huge setback with its members leaving the party and joining rival Congress.
This development has come just ahead of the Lok Sabha elections and the Assembly elections that are certain to change the political equations in the state. Yaqoob is also the former secretary of the Hurriyat faction.
