Army Chief Briefs PMon Situation Along Lo C, India’s Border With China

borderNEW DELHI : Army Chief General Bikram Singh today met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to brief him about the internal security situation in the country and the challenges faced by the Army.In the two-hour-long meeting, General Singh also briefed the Prime Minister about the situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and the Line of Actual Control, India’s border with China.
In the first major ceasefire violation along the LoC since the new government came to power, Pakistani troops opened fire in the Mendhar sector of Jammu and Kashmir this morning.Indian troops retaliated and intermittent firing is still reportedly on.According to reports, small arms, rockets and mortar shells were fired by the Pakistani troops. The firing began at around 7 am.
On Thursday, an Army jawan was killed and three others were injured in an IED blast in the Bhimber Gali sector. In another incident in the same area, two jawans were injured after the stepped over a landmine.General Singh also briefed the PM on internal security situation in the North East and the Army’s immediate requirements.
