women safety: panic button in every Mobile Phone from 1st January
NEW DELHI: Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi has said for women safety there will be a panic button in every cell phone from 1st of January next year. In an exclusive interview to All India Radio Gandhi said there are 20 to 30 crore cell phone users in the country and of them 37 per cent are in rural areas.
She said if a woman is being chased or is hurt she can just put her finger on that button keep pressing and the police will then react.On Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme, the Minister said that the scheme was successful in improving child sex ratio in the targeted areas particularly in Haryana. She said, sex ratio for girl has risen from 830 to 907 per thousand male child in the state.
Minister said in the last two years Women and Child Development ministry has done many things for women’s nourishment, their safety and advancement.
She said her ministry has started a programme called Step to give money to train 200 women at a time and to get them jobs, whether at home or outside. Ms. Gandhi said first time the government has started ë-Mahila site where women can sell their products online.
