Top Court takes Suo moto cognizance of C-19 situation, seeks a natioal plan
NEW DELHI : The Supreme Court on Thursday took suo moto cognizance on issues related to four issues. The apex court asked for a report on these four issues, supply of oxygen, supply of essential drugs, method and manner of vaccination and States’ power to declare lockdown.
The Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice SA Bobde, asked the Centre to submit its plan on Covid preparedness, including the details of the nationwide vaccination drive plan.
The bench, which also included justices S Ravindra Bhat and L Nageshwar Rao, noted that currently six high courts, including Delhi, Bombay, Sikkim, Odisha, Calcutta and Allahabad, were hearing matters related to Covid preparedness.
