State BJP leaders ignore Rajnath, hint cabalism at higher party level
KOLKATA: Yesterday it was BJP’s former president and present Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh held an expansive meeting with more than five chief ministers of North East and officials in state secretariat and supposedly convinced them why more security was needed on India-Bangladesh border in moment of Rohingya crisis stuck Dhaka.
Yet all was surprised when Rajnath Singh remained merely a Bengal Government guest and barring former Bengal president Rahul Sinha, was ignored by State BJP leaders!
Every other day, we have a central minister visiting the state, but we had other serious preoccupations which couldn’t be ignored,’’ said state party president Dilip Ghosh when asked about their cold response.
Yet it looked rather odd and hinted that after all BJP’s Central leadership isn’t free from Indian political cabalism, even while facing as crucial an assembly election in Gujarat.
They do not care who comes, unless he or she belongs to Narendra Modi and Amit Shah group,’’ admitted an old BJP leader who worked under Singh on condition of anonymity.
Dilip Ghosh who weakly defended the lack of political protocol for other reasons, BJP workers felt “actually done a damage to party’s prestige at the state- and national-level. In party we shouldn’t mix official meetings with in house politics, and let us not forget Singh was party’s former president and still holds as important a cabinet posts as Home Minister’s,’’ said a veteran Bengal party member.
