Security scenario of NE has improved since 2014: Rijiju
GUWAHATI: Centre has said that the Assam-Bangladesh border will be sealed by next year. Attending the North East Democratic Alliance conclave in Guwahati today, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said, the overall security scenario of the North East has improved since 2014.
He said, the target of the Centre is to secure complete peace for the region. Mr Rijiju said, the security of border of the country is one of the prime task of the government.Mr Rijiju also proposed to set up a peace committee among North Eastern states for lasting peace and development of the region.
He said, the Home Ministry will publish a booklet within two months on steps being taken for the North East by the NDA government.The Minister said, funds for the border management has been increased to 44 percent by the Centre.
