SC allows IT dept to re-open tax case against Amitabh Bachchan
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has allowed the Income Tax department to re-open a tax case against actor Amitabh Bachchan pertaining to his income in 2001.
According to the Income Tax department, the actor owes 1 crore 66 lakh rupees in taxes for his show Kaun Banega Crorepati.In 2008, the Bombay High Court had granted relief to the actor by dismissing an appeal filed by the Income Tax Commissioner who re-opened the case.
The Income Tax department had moved the Supreme Court against the High Court order.
