NEW DELHI : The situation is almost clear in the Assembly elections in the northeastern Indian states of Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland. In Nagaland, the BJP-NDPP alliance has already won the majority. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance has also won a majority in Tripura. Conrad Sangma’s NPP has emerged as the largest party in Meghalaya. The BJP has crossed the majority mark in the Tripura Assembly polls by winning 32 seats.

The ruling NDPP-BJP alliance on Thursday won 33 seats in the 60-member Nagaland Assembly. No one has got a clear majority in Meghalaya. Polling for 60 assembly seats in Meghalaya and 59 assembly seats in Nagaland was held on February Polling for 60 seats in Tripura was held on February According to the latest information, the picture of power in Tripura and Nagaland has become clear.

The BJP in Tripura and the NDPP (BJP alliance) in Nagaland are almost certain to return to power. However, no party has won a majority in Meghalaya. The Meghalaya election results appeared to follow the path of exit polls, with no party getting a clear majority. The United Democratic Party (UDP) came second with 11 seats. The Congress and Trinamool Congress are expected to get five seats each and the BJP two.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Thursday asked Union Home Minister Amit Shah to help his National People’s Party (NPP) win another term after falling short of a majority in the state polls. His request was granted without delay. The BJP high command was already prepared for this.
Konrad Sangma had already indicated that his alliance with the BJP, which broke up before the elections, may soon return. “If we get even a fraction of the mandate, we will have to talk to the parties to form the government… If any party can give a voice to the northeast at the national level, then we are working for it,” Sangma had said are.”
In 2018, the BJP won only two seats, but managed to form a government with the NPP. This time, the two parties contested separately after differences over corruption allegations against Mr. Sangma’s party. On the results and trends, the BJP hailed the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government’s agenda of peace and development in the North East. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said the people of the region have seen for the first time how meticulously and sincerely the Center has worked to bring peace and development in the region. Be it major projects like building highways or providing them with basic amenities like drinking water, free rations and electricity. He said there used to be a wide gap between the Center and the North East, but the Modi-led government has bridged the distances.
Rijiju said the people of Tripura have seen how the BJP has worked to fulfill its promises made to them by solving old problems. Tipra Motha of the then Shahi Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, who made his debut in the Tripura polls, has won 12 seats. It seems the party, which is pushing for Greater Tipraland, has captured the IPFT’s tribal support. In Meghalaya, Conrad Sangma’s National People’s Party, which led the ruling coalition with the BJP, contested this time alone and has won 26 of the state’s 60 seats. He needs at least four more lawmakers to reach the majority mark.

Meanwhile, given the celebratory atmosphere in party offices, the BJP, which is going to form governments in all three states or join the role of ally, has the answer. The two parties had split before the polls over allegations of corruption against Mr Sangma’s party. In Nagaland, the BJP and its ally NDPP (Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party) have won 37 seats. It has gained seven seats over the last time. The state has also won a woman MLA which is the first time a woman has won since independence.
