Mayavati Party (BSP) Suspended MP Danish Ali
NEW DELHI : The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) suspended Amroha MP Danish Ali from the party for alleged anti-party activities stating that he was verbally instructed multiple times to not indulge in any statements or actions against the party.
Hours after the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) suspended its MP Danish Ali for indulging in anti-party activities, the legislator from Amroha in Uttar Pradesh junked the party’s claims, saying that the decision was unfortunate
However, this action comes exactly a day after he threw his weight behind expelled Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, following the recommendations of the parliamentary ethics committee. The MP from Amroha was seen with a placard hung around his neck which said “don’t turn (the) victim into (the) culprit”. Danish Ali, who recently became a target of an unsavoury exchange on the floor of the house, has been suspended from his party – Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party. “Anti-party activity” has been spelt out as the reason for the action against him.
“You were warned many times against statements or actions against the policies, ideology and discipline of the party. But, despite that you have continuously been acting against the party,” the BSP said in a statement. A suspended MP is bound by the party whip.
Danish Ali has denied his party’s charge and said he has “never done any kind of anti-party work”.”I have diligently tried to strengthen the BSP and has never done any kind of anti-party work. The people of my Amroha area are witness to this. I have definitely opposed the anti-people policies of the BJP government and will continue to do so. If doing this is a crime, then I have committed a crime and I am ready to face any punishment for it,” Danish told media this evening.
On Friday, December 8, Ali had held a one-man protest outside parliament against Moitra’s expulsion. He hung a placard around his neck on which it was written “don’t turn (the) victim into (the) culprit”. “I’ve put this (poster) because the committee also mentioned me in its recommendation… because I want to bring her justice. She wasn’t given an opportunity…” Ali Newstrack24x7.com. “On one side, the whole world saw how Ramesh Bidhuri (a BJP Lok Sabha MP) acted… was there no sense of honour or decorum in Parliament then? Why now? What is this?” a furious Ali had asked.
In response to his suspension, Ali said that he is ready to face consequences by opposing the “anti-people policies” of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In a series of posts on X (formerly, Twitter), he wrote in Hindi, “I will always be grateful to sister Mayawati ji that she helped me become a member of the Lok Sabha by giving me a BSP ticket. Sister also made me the leader of the BSP parliamentary party. I always received her immense love and support. Her decision today is unfortunate. I worked hard to strengthen BSP and have never done any kind of anti-party work. I have opposed the anti-people policies of the BJP government and will continue to do so… If doing this is a crime, then I have committed this crime, and I am ready to face the punishment for it,” Danish Ali said on Saturday.
Mr Ali also thanked Mayawati for giving him a Lok Sabha ticket while stressing that the party’s decision against him was “unfortunate”. In the suspension letter addressed to Ali, BSP national general secretary Satish Chandra Misra said, “Several times you were asked verbally to not act and make any statement against the policies, ideology and discipline of the party. But despite that, you are continuously acting against the party.”
A massive political row erupted over Mr Bidhuri’s remarks during a discussion on the Chandrayaan-3 mission in September this year. The objectionable comments to target Danish Ali, who was accused by several BJP leaders of using derogatory words for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provoke the South Delhi MP, led to a show-cause notice to Mr Bidhuri, known for his several controversial remarks.
The BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri, on Thursday, expressed regret for his objectionable remarks against Mr Ali in a meeting of the Lok Sabha Privileges Committee, which heard both leaders separately.
The BSP, which avoided to comment on the issue, today accused Mr Ali, a former JD(S) leader, of going against the party line: “You were given the ticket on Deve Gowda’s insistence who had assured that you will always follow the party line
Danish Ali, who started his political journey with Janata Dal (Secular), joined the BSP in 2019 with the consent of JD(S) chief and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda. Six days later, his name was announced from Amroha constituency for 2019 general elections. He won the seat by defeating Kanwar Singh Tanwar of the BJP by a margin of nearly 63,000 votes.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also responded to Ali’s suspension. “The letter (Ali suspension letter) was circulated when I was on my way to this press conference. Could it be that it (BSP) thought that he (Ali) was on his way to the SP,” he said in Lucknow. A Jamia Milia Islamia alumni, active in politics since student days and a vocal advocate of the causes he believes in, Danish Ali first made his name far from the national stage and even native Uttar Pradesh.
