Margao is all set for Wild life, Environment floats shine
Various other floats presenting the culture & tradition of Goa were present in the Margaon Carnival parade.
Floats with a message of road safety awareness, save nature were also present. Thousands of people including Indian & foreign tourists witnessed the Carnival Float Parade
The MMC Chairperson told the media that the Tourism Minister and officials have issued directions to the Carnival organising committees in the State to issue instructions to the participating floats to showcase and focus on the State traditions and heritage.
Elaborate on the instructions received from the Tourism Department on the nature of floats participating in the parade, the MMC Chairperson said a 4-5 member committee constituted by the Tourism Department comprising of personalities from different fields has laid stress and focus on showcasing Goa’s traditions. Instead of harping on musical bands and western music, the committee had insisted the floats showcase the local heritage and traditions,” Damu said.
“I am happy that the Indian Navy is participating in the Margao Carnival float parade. We have invited Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, Environment Minister Aleixo Sequeira, MLAs Digambar Kamat, Vijai Sardesai and Ulhas Tuenkar for the carnival parade,” Damu said.
In the traditional category, the float by Goyecho Lakdacho Upyog bagged the first prize, while the second prize went to St Estevam for the float on Kazuchea Biyancho Kaakanno. The third and fourth prize was bagged by Addle Xetkar and Goenche Khumbar respectively.
