Magisterial probe ordered into killing of youth in Budgam

srinagar-protest_650x400_81429358709SRINAGAR: A teenager died and two persons were injured in Kashmir’s Budgam today after clashes broke out between protesters and police. In the evening, two policemen, one of them an assistant sub-inspector, were arrested.
The state government has also ordered a magisterial inquiry into the death. Kashmir, which saw protests for the second consecutive day following the arrest of hardliner Masarat Alam, was shut down following a strike call by separatist leaders.Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Mir Altaf Ahmad, ordered the magisterial probe into the killing of Suhail Ahmad Sofi at Narbal village on Srinagar-Gulmarg road.
“Additional Deputy Commissioner has been asked to probe the incident that led to the death of the boy. He has been asked to submit a report within 15 days,” Mir said.
The youth was killed and two others injured in firing by the CRPF today during protests in Budgam district, where a strike has been called by the hardline Hurriyat faction against the killing of two youths in Tral earlier this week.
Meanwhile, Hurriyat’s moderate faction also approached the National Human Rights Commission seeking a probe into the killing of a youth in firing by security forces in Budgam district of central Kashmir.The outfit filed a petition before the rights body demanding that the accused be dismissed from the services, arrested and prosecuted in a civilian court.
“We have filed a petition for taking cognizance into the matter with the prayer to take necessary action against the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel,” the outfit said in a statement.
