Keshrinath Tripathi new Governor of Bengal
KOLKATA: The BJP-led NDA is sending `former UP speaker Kesherinath Tripathi’ as next Governor of West Bengal, Raj Bhawan sources said here this afternoon quoting a release from President’s office in Delhi.
TMC sources said former BJP president now Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had had a talk with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee last week where he proposed the name of party veteran VK Malhotra but Banerjee opposed it.’’
Incidentally, three major Bengal parties, the Trinamool Congress, CPI(M) and Congress decided to oppose the name of Kalyan Singh in Assembly recently as replacement MK Narayanan who left on 4th this month.
Three parties decided to oppose Kalyan Singh’s name as his name was linked to Babri Masjid.A well-known Hindi writer, Tripathi is also known to have been close to the first BJP-led NDA government prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.
