Kapil Mishra to Succeed Tomar as Delhi’s Law Minister
NEW DELHI: Delhi Jal Board vice chairman Kapil Mishra will succeed Jitender Tomar as Delhi’s law minister. A letter has been sent to the president in this regard.
Mr Tomar had stepped down on Tuesday after being arrested over allegations that he had faked his law degree.Mr Mishra, 35, the legislator from northeast Delhi’s Karawal Nagar, was placed in the crucial Jal Board to help realise the Aam Aadmi Party’s election promise of providing cheap water to Delhiites.
Party sources said his elevation came as the Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, was happy with his stint in the Jal Board.
Last heard, Mr Mishra had made headlines by beginning a campaign within the Aam Aadmi Party for the ouster of Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav.
Mr Mishra’s Facebook profile describes him as a “political activist and social entrepreneur” who had worked with international organizations like Greenpeace and Amnesty International.
As a legislator, he had also raised his voice against the exploitation of Yamuna during the Commonwealth Games, the profile read.
