Jaswant Singh Meets LK Advani

jaswant [1]NEW DELHI: Jaswant Singh, expelled BJP leader who was ousted by the party in March this year, met senior party LK Advani at his residence in Delhi today.
Mr Singh, 77, was expelled by the BJP for six years after entered the race for the Lok Sabha polls as an independent candidate from Barmer, protesting against the party’s decision to field Col (Retd) Sonaram Chowdhury, a recent import from the Congress. He lost by a margin of over 87,000 votes.
When he was expelled in March, Mr Singh had said in a statement, “I am saddened that the BJP of today is not the party that Atal Bihari Vajpayee, LK Advani and Bhairon Singh Shekhawat had envisioned and aspired it to be.” In an interview to NDTV, he broke down while discussing his party’s failure to back him.
Mr Singh was removed from the BJP for the second time – in 2009, he was expelled from the party because it felt his book cheer-led Mohammed Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan. He was, however, re-inducted into the party 10 months later in a move orchestrated by senior BJP leader LK Advani.
