Haryana Deputy Speaker expresses concern over state’s skewed sex ratio
NEW DELHI: : Haryana Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker, Mrs. Santosh Yadav, has expressed deep concern over the skewed sex ratio and urged women to come forward in large numbers to make the ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ programme launched by Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, a grand success.
The Deputy Speaker was addressing the national-level conference of women Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) on the topic ‘Women Legislators: Building Resurgent India’, organised under the aegis of Indian Parliamentary Group in New Delhi yesterday.
The significant role played by women in economic, social, political and judicial development, she said that giving decision-making power to women would help usher in a new era of social development. She said that education for women was a necessity for ensuring their bright future.
She said that the elected women representatives served as role models for other women, therefore, they should be given 33 per cent representation in the drafting team of the ‘New National Education Policy’.
