Diwali bonanza to armed forces! Soldiers to get 10% arrears
NEW DELHI : Government is going to bring further cheers for the armed forces this Diwali, as it has decided to disburse 10 percent arrears to them, a financial daily has said.
As per a report in the Economic Times, India’s soldiers will get an interim payment before October 30.The ET access to an October 10 order by the defence ministry. It says pending issuance of the 7th pay commission notification, “the President has sanctioned payment of arrears on ad hoc basis.
Arrears will be 10 percent of the current drawn pay (including dearness allowance) for all soldiers, calculated from January 2016.”The Defence Ministry had recently notified the 7th Pay Commission.
However, the armed forces have been unhappy with the cabinet approval of the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations saying the anomalies that they had highlighted has not been taken care of.
The forces argue that the anomalies lower the status and pay parity of forces vis-a-vis their counterparts in the police and civilian administration.
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar had in the last couple of months held several meetings with Service Chiefs and the members of the Armed Forces Pay Commission Cell to discuss the anomalies in the 7th Pay Commission of the Armed Forces.
Parrikar had also assured them that the “anomalies” they pointed out in the 7th Pay Commission will be taken up at the “highest level”.
