Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain’s condition worsens
NEW DELHI : The condition of Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, who has tested positive for COVID-19, deteriorated on Friday and he was put on oxygen support. The Office of the Delhi Health Minister said that Jain’s lung infection has worsened after which he was put on continuous oxygen support.
His condition reportedly worsened last night. A source in the AAP said “he has pneumonia and the infection has spread in his lungs. He has been on oxygen support through the night and also today.”
An official said Jain has also been diagnosed with pneumonia and his oxygen levels have dipped, after which he was shifted to the intensive care unit or ICU. The minister is experiencing difficulty in breathing and is running high fever. He has also developed pneumonia.
“His latest CT scan report shows that the pneumonia patches in his lungs have increased. He experienced increased giddiness and tiredness today. The advice of doctors will be followed,” Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said.
Jain, who was initially admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Superspeciality Hospital in east Delhi with high fever, has now been shifted to Saket’s Max Hospital, where he will be administered Plasma therapy for COVID-19.
Speaking on the minister’s condition, Kejriwal said “His latest CT scan report shows that the pneumonia patches in his lungs have increased. He experienced increased giddiness and tiredness today. The advice of doctors will be followed.”
On Sunday, Mr Jain attended a high-level meeting on the corona virus situation in the national capital, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, which was also attended by Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal, Delhi Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, his deputy Manish Sisodia and Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan.
Mr. Jain’s portfolios were taken over by Manish Sisodia on Thursday. He is now minister without portfolio.
