Crona-19: India recorded biggest spike of 8,392 , 230 deaths in 24 hours

30-coronavirus-660-11NEW DELHI : India recorded its biggest single-day spike of 8,392 confirmed novel coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The death toll in the country also surged to 5,394.
The total number of Covid-19 positive patients in the country now stands at 190,535 since the outbreak. 230 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours in India taking the total death toll to 5,394. There are 93,322 active cases, while 91,819 people have been cured/discharged/migrated, the ministry said.
India has now moved to the seventh spot among the top ten worst affected countries in the world by COVID-19 pandemic. Amid the rapidly rising coronavirus cases, the government has decided to relax lockdown rules from today, June 1.
The recovery rate in India from coronavirus continued to show an improvement despite a spike in number of new cases. According to latest figures released by health ministry, India’s COVID-19 cases now stands at 1,82,143 including 89,995 active cases, 86,984 cured/discharged/migrated and 5,164 deaths. In 24 hours, 8,380 new cases were reported – the highest daily spike so far – and 193 deaths.
The total number of novel coronavirus cases in Maharashtra shot past 70,000 today after more than 2,000 fresh Covid-19 cases emerged in the state on Monday. With 2,361 more patients reported positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the state’s virus tally reached 70,013, according to the state health department.

The death toll also increased to 2,362 after 76 more fatalities were reported in the state since Sunday, it said. A total of 779 patients were discharged from hospitals in the day, taking the tally of the recovered cases to 30,108 so far, a statement said.
Gujarat has the second-highest cases, with a tally of 8,541, including 513 deaths. Tamil Nadu saw a single day high of 798 new cases, taking the state’s tally to 8,002. Chennai’s Koyambedu vegetable market accounts for at least 1,800 cases.
While, Delhi reported 990 fresh coronavirus cases on Monday, crossing the 20,000-mark. 12 people died of COVID-19 in 24 hours, while 38 unreported deaths were also detected, taking the total of fatalities to 523, government data said.
With 20,834 cases, the national capital is third on the list of worst-affected states after Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. In the last 24 hours, 268 people were cured which took total recoveries in Delhi to 8,746. The national capital has 11,565 active cases as of now.
