COVID-19 recovery rate rises to 68.32 %, fatality rate declines to 2.04%:

delhi_patientNEW DELHI :  Focused and concerted efforts towards containment, testing, isolation and treatment by the Centre, states and Union Territories have resulted in the corona virus COVID-19 recovery rate rising to 68.32 per cent and fatality rate steadily declining to 2.04 per cent.
With a single-day rise of 61,537 cases, India’s coronavirus tally reached 20,88,611 while the death toll due to the disease rose to 42,518 with 933 fresh fatalities being reported in a day, the health ministry data updated at 8 am showed

India has one of the lowest cases per million at 1,469 as against the global average of 2,425, it said. According to the Union Health Ministry , effective surveillance and improved testing network have ensured early detection of cases and consequentially leading to timely clinical management of severe and critical cases.
Coordinated implementation of ‘test, track, treat’ strategy by the Centre, states and Union Territories has ensured that case fatality rate has been low compared to the global scenario, it said.
“It has continued to fall progressively and stands at 2.04 per cent as on date. With focused efforts to reduce moralities due to COVID-19, India has registered one of the lowest deaths per million at 30 as compared to the global average of 91 deaths per million.”
There has been a sharp increase in COVID-19 recoveries. With 48,900 patients discharged in 24 hours, India’s total recoveries from COVID-19 has reached 14,27,005. “The recovery rate, on a steady rise, stands at 68.32 per cent,” the Ministry said.

According to the health ministry, 6,19,088 active COVID-19 cases, which is the actual caseload of India, account for 29.64 per cent of the total positive cases as on date. These patients are under medical supervision either at hospitals or in home isolation.
Expanded diagnostic lab network and facilitation for easy testing across the country has resulted in India testing a total of 2,33,87,171 samples for COVID-19 infection. A total of 5,98,778 tests were conducted on Friday, the ministry said.

“Tests Per Million has seen a sharp increase to 16,947 today,” it said. A key factor in this widespread testing is the continuously expanding network of diagnostic labs. With 936 labs in the government sector and 460 private labs, India has 1,396 labs for COVID-19 testing.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra’s corona virus cases crossed the 5-lakh mark today with a record single-day spike in cases. With 12,822 new infections, the total tally in the worst affected state in the country is now 5,03,084.
The total death count in the state is now 17,367 with the addition of 275 new fatalities in the last 24 hours. Of the 275 deaths reported in Maharashtra today, 222 deaths occurred in the last 48 hours while 28 deaths took place in the past one week.
Rest of the 25 deaths had taken place more than a week ago, but were reported now, an official told news agency PTI. A record 11,082 patients were also discharged from hospitals in a day, taking the tally of recovered coronavirus patients to 3,38,362 in the state.
The number of active cases in the state stands at 1,47,048. The total number of tests in the state is 26,47,020. There are 9,89,612 people under home quarantine while 35,625 are in institutional quarantine.
Mumbai, the state’s capital and the densely populated financial capital of the country reported 1,304 new cases and 58 deaths. The total number of COVID-19 cases in the city now stands at 1,22,316. The number of deaths in the city is now 6,751.

Pune also reported the highest single-day spike on Saturday with 1,457 cases taking the total count to 69,500. The city also recorded 39 fatalities – total number of deaths in the city is now 1,744. Nagpur also saw the biggest jump in 24 hours with 659 new cases taking the toll to 8,406.
