Country’s Top Actress Deepika Padukone Summoned by NCB
MUMBAI: In a big development in the drugs-related case pertaining to the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), probing the alleged Bollywood-drug nexus has summoned actresses Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh.
Fashion designer Simone Kambhatta has also been summoned by the apex drug law enforcement agency in connection with its probe. days.
NCB found connections of actress Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor and others with drugs peddlers after they retrieved Jaya Saha’s WhatsApp chats. NCB summoned Deepika’s manager Karishma Prakash to join the drugs probe but she skipped it owning to bad health.
Deepika Padukone will appear before NCB on September 25. While, Rakul Preet and Kambhatta will appear before the probe agency on September 24, Shraddha Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan have been asked to come to NCB head office in Mumbai on September 26.
Deepika’s business manager Karishma Prakash will also be questioned on Friday in a case that the NCB had filed on the basis of WhatsApp messages retrieved from Rhea Chakraborty’s mobile phone, which had revealed conversations on procuring drugs.
So far, the NCB has arrested Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, Sushant’s house manager Samuel Miranda, personal staff Dipesh Sawant and some others in the case.
These are the most high-profile names to come up in a widening probe into allegations of drugs linked to the film industry, which emerged during the investigations into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput on June 14.
Investigators are looking into the role of Deepika Padukone — a country’s top actors reportedly after talent agency executive Jaya Saha’s phone revealed a WhatsApp chat between one “D” and “K” on arranging drugs. Shraddha Kapoor’s name reportedly also figured in the chats retrieved from Jaya Saha, who is being questioned too.
Rhea Chakraborty, a 28-year-old actor, was arrested in a separate case registered after 59 grams of marijuana was seized during searches in Mumbai. She and her brother Showik Chakraborty were yesterday sent to jail till October 6.
The names of Sara Ali Khan, a co-star of Sushant Singh Rajput, and Rakul Preet Singh reportedly came up during the questioning of Rhea Chakraborty. Rakul Preet Singh had last week gone to the Delhi High Court alleging a media trial over reports that she had been named among drug users in Bollywood.
