Congress, NCP target PM Modi over J&K visit, BJP retaliates

chakoNEW DELHI : Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday to celebrate Diwali with soldiers and flood-affected people stroked a fresh controversy when the Opposition alleged that his visit is politically influenced

Accusing Modi of playing politics with natural calamity affected state, Congress leader PC Chacko said that it is evident that his visit will benefit his own party in the poll bound state.
Calling it a preparation for polls, NCP leader Tariq Anwar said that PM’s visit to Srinagar is politically influenced as polls in J&K are round the corner.Not that critical like Tariq, another NCP leader Majid Memon said that if PM’s intention is to help people who suffered during flood it will be a welcome step, but it should not be driven to take political mileage.
In defence of PM Modi, Cabinet Minister Venkaiah Naidu said that PM wants to share the concerns of people and this gesture is highly commendable.Meanwhile, launching scathing attack on the Congress for criticising Modi’s visit, the BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said that it is surprising that Congress party is seeing politics when PM is trying to share sorrow of people.
The chief of All India Imam Association,Omar Iliyas has also said that PM’s decision to celebrate Diwali with Srinagar flood victims is appreciable.
