Church vandalised in Vasant Kunj area of Delhi
NEW DELHI : In yet another incident of vandalism against the Christian community in Delhi, a church as ransacked in Vasant Kunj area of the city early on Monday.
As per reports, the attack was carried out at St Alhonsa Church by unknown miscreants late in the night yesterday. The incident was discovered by the church’s pastor when he opened the doors today morning.
A church official said, “We suspect, early morning around 3 am, somebody broke open the front door and entered the church. They broke desecrated the holy eucharist.”According to reports, prayer items in the church were also thrown around by the vandals.The police are at the spot to investigate the matter.
Today’s is the fifth such incident in Delhi in the past two months.In December 2014, just days before Christmas, a church was partially burnt down by vandals in Dilshad Garden area of the city.
Community members had protested against the incident outside the Delhi Police headquarters but the Dilshad Garden incident was soon followed by similar such incidents in other parts of the city.
