At least 12 dead in two Baghdad car bomb attacks
BAGHDAD (iran): : At least 12 people have been killed, and 39 others injured, after two separate car bombs went off in Baghdad today
According to police sources security forces were the intended targets of the two bombs – one of which went off at a security checkpoint in the northern al-Husseiniya district and the other of which hit an army convoy in Arab al-Jabour.
Officials told Reuters no immediate claim of responsibility for the blasts has been made. Police sources said nine people were killed and 28 others injured in the attack on a security checkpoint in the northern al-Husseiniya district yesterday.
In the second bombing which targeted an army convoy in Arab al-Jabour, on Baghdad’s southern outskirts three people were killed there, and 11 others injured.
Islamic State was behind the yesterday’s larger blast, according to the Amaq news agency which supports the group. However, there was no immediate claim of responsibility for the second bombing.
