Assam CM Sonowal visits Kokrajhar to review current situation
KOKRAJHAR : Assam Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal visited Kokrajhar today to take stock of the situation arising out of the killing of 14 civilians by terrorists on Friday.Security forces also killed one terrorist. The Chief Minister held meeting with senior officials on law and order situation.
Mr.Sonowal already said that the state government has taken zero tolerance approach towards terrorism. Meanwhile, situation is gradually limping back to normal at Kokrajhar. A team of the Asom Gana Parishad has also visited Kokrajhar today.
Meanwhile, DGP Mukesh Sahay has said that the slain militant Maodong was the mastermind of the Kokrajhar attack. He said, the slain militant was a top commander of the banned Songbijit faction of NDFB.
The DGP said that as per preliminary investigation, it was found that Maodang carried arms and grenades while 1 or 2 unarmed militants suspected to be at the spot when the firing incident occurred at Balajan Tiniali in Kokrajhar on Friday.
