Apex Court fines Kerala govt. for ‘frivolous plea’
NEW DELHI : The Supreme Court on Friday issued notice on ousted Kerala police chief T.P. Senkumar’s contempt plea against Chief Secretary Nalini Netto for not issuing the official orders re-appointing him to the top post of the police force.
“This is in bad taste. This proves the allegations of mala fide against you”, the court observed, reacting to the government’s submission in the court that Mr. Senkumar was never the State police chief. The apex court slapped ₹ 25,000 costs on the Pinarayi Vijayan government for the frivolous plea that Mr. Senkumar was not State police chief but only ‘Head of the Police Force’.
